Explosive Storage Safety

Due to the highly dangerous nature of explosives storage, we recommend conducting a risk assessment at your site, in addition to following the guidelines set by the Australian Standard – 2187.1 – Explosives – Storage, transport and use. Always read, understand and follow your safety data sheets so that explosives handling, storage and transport is safe for that particular Class 1 good.

Suitable Use

This Storemasta Explosives Storage Day Box is designed for the transportation of explosives around a jobsite. Please also refer to the Australian Dangerous Goods Code for relevant requirements surrounding transport.

It is suitable for the storage of explosive or detonators. It has been designed and manufactured to comply with the Australian Standards.

Day Box Features

The Storemasta Explosive Storage Day Box offers features including:

  • State of the art powder coat finish for high durability and performance
  • Heavy duty internal locking system
  • Fully welded seams
  • Heavy duty hinges
  • 2mm sheet steel construction
  • Internally lined with 19mm structural plywood
  • Warning and Safety Signage

Signage

Ensure that signage is in good condition and placed in the appropriate position at all times, to ensure staff are fully aware of the Class 1 dangerous goods being stored. If you require new signage, shop signs online at Storemasta for new and replacement signs.

Cleaning

Never clean down the exterior or interior of the Day Box with any type of substance that may react with the goods stored. Due to the powder coat finish, very little maintenance is required externally. The hinges, however, may be oiled from time to time to ensure a seamless operation.

Check with your safety data sheets to ensure that your dangerous goods are being handled and stored as per the instructions. Also make note of any substances, including water, which may affect your Class 1 Explosives.

NEVER submerge your daybox in any type of liquid or allow water to be splashed onto or into the box as this will affect the integrity of the wood.

Wood Care

The plywood located in the base of the Explosives Daybox should be inspected regularly to ensure that it is still in optimum condition. If there is damage to the plywood, contact Storemasta to determine the best course of action – whether this is a repair or a replacement box to ensure safety and compliance.

Your plywood should not require maintenance.

Static Electricity

Please ensure that there are no nail heads or screw heads exposed as these may transfer static or electricity.

Hinges

A small drop of oil is all that’s needed to keep hinges working seamlessly in your Explosives Day Box.
