Explosive Storage Safety
Due to the highly dangerous nature of explosives storage, Storemasta recommends conducting a risk assessment at your workplace. We also recommend following the guidelines set by the Australian Standard – 2187.1 – Explosives – Storage, transport and use. Ensure that all staff managing explosives read, understand and follow safety data sheets so that explosives handling, storage and transport remains safe and compliant.

Signage
Make sure your Class 1 Cabinet signage is in good condition and placed in the appropriate position at all times. This is not only for compliance but to ensure staff are fully aware of the Class 1 dangerous goods being stored.
If you require new signage, shop signs online at Storemasta for new and replacement signs.
Cleaning
Never clean down the exterior or interior of your Explosive Cabinet with any type of substance that may react with the goods stored. Due to the powder coat finish, very little maintenance is required externally. The hinges, however, may be oiled from time to time to ensure a seamless operation.
Check with your safety data sheets to ensure that your dangerous goods are being handled and stored as per the instructions. Also make note of any substances, including water, which may affect your Class 1 Explosives.
NEVER allow liquid to be splashed onto or into the Explosives Storage Cabinet as this will affect the integrity of the wood lining.
Wood Care
Please inspect your Class 1 Cabinet regularly to ensure that it is still in optimum condition. If there is damage to the wood lining, contact Storemasta to determine the best course of action – whether this is a repair or a replacement cabinet to ensure safety and compliance.
Your wood lining should not require maintenance.
Static Electricity
Please ensure that there are no nail heads or screw heads exposed as these may transfer static or electricity.
Hinges
A small drop of oil is all that’s needed to keep hinges working seamlessly in your Class 1 Cabinet.
