Door Chain Installation: Dangerous Goods Containers 10ft or 20ft
This door chain installation guide is for Storemasta Dangerous Goods Containers, models 500517 (10ft) and 500512 (20ft) and other iterations within that range.
Step 1: Position the First Hook
- Place the first hook (with two holes) onto the side of the container wall.
- Ensure that the chain length will allow the door to reach its fully open position (180 degrees) while remaining attached.
Step 2: Drill Pilot Holes
- Hold the hook firmly against the container wall.
- Using a drill and pilot drill bit, drill two pilot holes through the hook’s mounting holes into the wall.
Step 3: Position the Second Hook
- Take the second hook and position it on the internal side of the container door.
- Ensure that the chain length will reach this hook when the door is fully open.
- Repeat the pilot drilling process using the hook as a guide.
Step 4: Secure the Hooks
- Using screws or rivets, fasten both hooks securely into place — one on the container wall and one on the internal side of the door.
- Ensure they are tightly secured to prevent loosening over time.
Step 5: Attach the Chain
- Hook the chain onto both installed hooks.
- Confirm that the chain holds the door at its maximum open position.
Step 6: Final Inspection
- Open the door fully to ensure the chain reaches and secures correctly.
- Check that all screws/rivets are firmly in place.
- Test durability by gently pulling on the chain.
